Delta Junction - Current Highlights
Welcome to the City of Delta Junction website.
You will find extensive information here about city
government, but also useful information about the
community.
The aboriginal inhabitants of the Delta area lived along the
Tanana River, north of the present town. The community of
Big Delta came into being just east of the junction of the Delta
River and the Tanana River. A ferry there brought
travelers across the Tanana.
With the coming of the Alaska Highway during WWII, a
community grew up at the junction of the Richardson Highway and
the new Alaska or AlCan Highway. That community is now the
City of Delta Junction.
Today Delta Junction is a vibrant and friendly community with
an economic center near the junction of the highways, but
stretching far to the east and adjoining the US Army Fort Greely
community to the south.

To Whom It May Concern,
The Delta Junction City Council is designing a new
airport subdivision next to the one that was developed
in 2002. If you are interested in purchasing an airport
lot, contact City Hall Staff (895-4656 or
city@ci.delta-junction.ak.us). How much interest
will determine how much is platted and developed. The
process is expected to take no less than one year.
Delta Junction City
Council meetings are scheduled the first and third
Tuesdays of every month, except for periodic
postponements and in October (Municipal Election is also
on the 1st Tuesday). See the Community Calendar at
deltanewsweb.com
for scheduled meetings. The City Clerk must be notified
of all agenda topics no later than Thursday prior to
each meeting. Agendas are posted on Friday. Contact City
Hall (895-4656) for more information.
