Pete was appointed to serve on the City Council on August 7, 2007 and elected by the public in 2007, 2010, and 2013. He served as Mayor Pro tem (2008/2012), as Mayor (2012/2013), and was elected again in 2013, to serve as Mayor throughout his term, ending in October 2016.

 

Pete Hallgren

Pete arrived in Alaska in 1971 and served the City & Borough of Sitka for 20 years as borough attorney, assembly member, and Mayor. After a 28-year career as an attorney he and his family moved to Delta Junction in 1999 where he served the City of Delta Junction as Director of the Local Redevelopment Authority under BRAC ’95 and reestablished the position of Municipal Administrator. He retired in July 2007, after serving eight years as Delta's City Administrator.

Pete is proud to have been an involved witness to the economic rebirth of Delta through construction of Pogo Mine, Federal retention of Fort Greely, and construction of the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense. As City Administrator, Pete oversaw planning, construction, and major upgrades of City facilities, including a new landfill, new library, new fire and ambulance buildings, new television transmitters, an indoor hockey facility, new fire trucks and ambulances, and reconstruction of the airport runway.

Pete attends the Delta Christian Center Church with his family and they are members of a number of local organizations. Pete is a racecar enthusiast and also enjoys four-wheeling, hunting, camping, cutting firewood, and travel.

Council Representative: Cemetery, Library

Mary was elected to the City Council in 1982 and served until 1991. She was again elected in 1997 and every three-year term thereafter through October 2012. She did not run in 2012, but won the seat as a write-in. Her current term ends in 2015. Mary served as Mayor (1985/1989 and August 2006/October 2012) and Mayor Pro tem (1989/1990, 1998/2006, and 2013/2015). She was elected to serve the one-year term as Mayor Pro tem in 2013 and again in 2014.


 

Mary Leigh Dowling

Mary has lived most of her life in Delta Junction, arriving in 1960. She retired from her career as Delta High School librarian (1977/2003) and is presently employed as a library aide. Mary is also a long-time member of the Delta Library Association and the Historian for the local igloo of Pioneers of Alaska. Bird watching, berry picking, reading, and family time are some of her favorite activities.

Council Representative: Airport

JW was appointed to serve on the City Council on August 15, 2006 and was elected in 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2013. This three-year term ends in 2016.

JW has been a Delta resident since 1956, is a retired Alyeska technician, and pilots a Super Cub in his spare time.

Audrey was appointed to the City Council Seat E on December 17, 2013 and elected to Seat C on October 7, 2014.  She has lived in Delta Junction since 1993,she served as a volunteer EMT I and a firefighter in the 1990s, and she currently serves on the Delta Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

Sherman was appointed to serve on the City Council on June 2, 2009. He was elected in October 2009, 2010, and 2013.

 

Sherman Stebbins

Sherman came to Alaska in 2003 to work at Fort Greely Missile Defense after serving the U.S. Army for 15 years, four of which were with the Alaska Army Guard. He completed two tours in the Middle East and one in Alaska. Sherman operates a repair shop, specializing in small engines and ATVs. He enjoys working in his greenhouse, canoeing, fishing, and traveling with his wife, Rachelle.

Corey was elected to the City Council on October 7, 2014 and will serve the one-year term until the Municipal Election in 2015.

 

 

Corey has lived in Delta since her birth in Fairbanks in 1983. She played
volleyball at Alabama State University and transferred to Eastern Oregon to
finish her degree. She met and married her husband, Rick, when she moved
back to Delta and they now have two children, Zeke and Murphy Lou. Corey
enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Lonny was appointed to the City Council on December 11, 2012 and elected by the public in 2013 and 2104.

 

Lonny is a father of three and he and his family have lived in Delta since February 2011. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1996, is employed as the Chief of the Plans, Analysis and Integration Office, the Strategic Planner for Fort Greely, and is trained in FEMA emergency preparedness. Lonny volunteers with the Delta Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
